Levels of Social Gaming Acceptance

What Level Are You On?

  1. What is this Candy Crush thing that everyone keeps posting to Facebook?
  2. I wish my friends would stop bugging me about this stupid game. I'm not going to join, so STOP ASKING!!
  3. This is SO ANNOYING.
  4. I'm going to post a message telling all my friends to back off or I'm going to block them.
  5. (Waiting in doctor's office) So, what is this candy crush game, anyway?
  6. Hmmm. Not bad, it's actually kind of relaxing.
  7. What? It wants me to buy stuff or post to Facebook. No way! I remember how annoying that was.
  8. Why do I have to keep ending my game and starting over?
  9. Ok, maybe I will connect to Facebook, but I'll set my privacy settings so that nobody can see the posts except for me.
  10. Ok, maybe I'll purchase just a few lives, just so I can keep playing and not have to wait 20 minutes. Geeez, what's up with that?
  11. Maybe my friends who already play Candy Crush won't mind me asking them for lives, right?
  12. This is SO ANNOYING that people are ignoring my Candy Crush requests!
  13. Now I know who my TRUE friends are.

     and so it goes....

Don't try to resist. Just go into the light.

Too funny! You can get sucked right in. I have managed to refrain from the requests. Don't invite me to play ;-)

That was really funny! I was just like you, at first I did't understand why everyone was so addicted to the game, now I can't stop playing either!

My name is Lisa Smith and I am a student in EDM 310 at The University of South Alabama majoring in Elementary Education. My professor assigned me to read your blog this week.
Candy Crush is like a drug. Once you start it you will get hooked. I choose to play the game for relaxation. I play the game through my facebook account but have never purchased anything from the site. I choose not to bug people and ask for lives but I will send lives out if requested by my friends. I have been stuck on level 92 for two months now so it is a real challenge for me.
Thanks
Lisa Smith

Hi, my name is Morgan Rushlow and i’m a student in EDM 310 at the University of South Alabama.I think people really can get lost in games, but some games can be educational. I believe it would be wonderful if games could be incorporated into classroom lessons.I think they can be a great educational tool. Do you agree? However, even though I believe it’s important to decide which ones could and should be used, because there are some games out there that are not educational, and some that don’t need to be played at all. Also, it is important parents have a say in what games their child plays because there are some that they don’t want them playing. Some may not even agree with it at all, but their wishes are important to consider. Just a thought because I know that a lot of people play games and for those people it would benefit them greatly.

Hello, my name is Jordan Neely and I am a student in EDM 310 at the University of South Alabama. I was extremely annoyed with candy crush invites on Facebook. I had no idea what the game was or why people were sending me all these annoying invites, my brother being the worse. One day, my brother was needing some lives and he talked me into just trying the game out and the addiction began. I am proud to say I have not spent any money on this game (and I honestly never will). I am on level 50 and have been stuck there for a while. I do not ask people for lives or give lives because I do not know what people are actually playing the game and I don't want to annoy people, because I know how that used to feel. This game is definitely a challenge for me, but it is also a fun game to play while taking a break from homework.

The writers should be aware of the difference between academic writing assignments. For example, if you need an essay and the writer provides you a research paper, you will lose your grade.
