In the next few weeks, many educators will find themselves with a bit of extra time; perfect for picking up a good book. I'd like to build a summer reading list for educators and I hope you will help. Please take a moment to complete and pass this request along.I will share the results when the survey is closed.
Thanks!

Number one book:
The Element by Sir Ken Robinson, an amazing book. Every person that works with kids should read this! I have a friend that is not an educator, instead a dancer, she came to me almost in tears, that said she wanted to start a NEW type of school! Can't wait to continue the conversation!
Great question thanks for posting it!

What Great Teachers Do Differently by Todd Whitaker was a good read. When you read it you will say "Well, duh", but how much of it do you really do?
I am looking forward to Rick Stiggins book on formative assessments, and then for fun a bit of fantasy from Donaldson.
The list goes on, so if I get through the first two there will be more.
Making Learning Whole: How Seven Principles of Teaching Can Transform Education by David N. Perkins would make a great summer read for educators.
Mindset by Carole Dweck is a must read by educators and parents. A quick fun read is The adventures of Johnny Bunko by Daniel Pink.
. Great read that "provides valuable tools for those who are looking ahead to the next generation of leaders..."
My favourites so far:
1. Beyond Discipline by Alfie Kohn
2. Will Richardson's book on blogs, wikis etc. You can order it from his website or Amazon.
3. Never Work Harder Than Your Students (Robyn ?). It's an ASCD book, easy to find.
Here is one I would like to read, Why Don't Students Like School: A Cognitive Scientist Answers Questions About How the Mind Works and What It Means for the Classroom by Daniel T. Willingham.
As teachers, we are all on that eternal quest to turn the tide of our students' enthusiasm and interest to the information and skills we believe they will need in the future.
I'll be looking forward to your list. It will make a nice wish list for the professional development shelf.
These are great additions. If you wouldn't mind adding the information to the survey, I'd greatly appreciate that.
The link is in the original blogpost.
I'm really looking forward to aggregating this list and will share it with everyone as soon as I've done that.
An Ethic of Excellence by Ron Berger
Great read for entire faculty and makes good conversation from chapter to chapter.
Check out "What's Shaking the School: A Principal's Retrospective" by Judy Bertram Tomlinson.
It's a very good read, funny and intelligent.
